NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Prescriptions for Augmentin in New York were down $2.7 billion at a generic drugstore compared with Augmentin sales of $2.2 billion, the company said on Thursday.
The savings were primarily from the company's two-week trial of Augmentin, a drug for treating high blood pressure and heart failure and a heart-wrench medication, the company said. But the generic version of Augmentin, a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium, made up about 50% of Augmentin sales in New York, the company said.
The generic versions of Augmentin were also down $1.4 billion, or about half of the $1.3 billion that the company said the generic version of Augmentin provided in its second quarter.
